WASHINGTON (Reuters)  A man arrested during the investigation into the failed attempt to bomb New York's Times Square has been deported to his native Pakistan, U.S. authorities said on Sunday.
Aftab Ali Khan, 28, was deported after pleading guilty to forging immigration documents and transferring money without a license, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement said.
Khan helped transfer $4,900 from sources within Pakistan to Faisal Shahzad, the man who was found guilty of attempting to set off a car bomb in Times Square in May 2010, law enforcement officials said.
U.S. investigators have not charged Khan with being directly involved in the plot or knowing what the money was to be used for.
Authorities said Kahn entered the United States in August 2009 to marry his then-fiance and began working at a gas station in Brookline, Massachusetts, without a required work permit.
When he married a different woman three months later, he left out the unauthorized work from documents he filed to change his immigration status, the government said.
